Flat Roof Repair Calmar Alberta, June 4, 2015.

Article: EPDM Flat Roof Repair Calmar Alberta, Commercial Building, Slope Toward Drains.

Below you will find a report from the flat roof repair crew. The issue with this roof was that a back-slope was required to get the water drainage correct. Once the back slope was installed on the flat roof the water drained from the roof much better. May 9, 2015: Crew Arrives to Complete Repair

After filling out our safety documentation and a weekly safety meeting we went up on the roof to find about 2 inches of standing water along the back wall. We spent 2 hours getting the roof dry. Once the roof was dry we then installed our slope with screws and plates to correct the roof ponding issues. After that we put 3 inch seam tape around the perimeter of our back slope. Once that was complete we put latex in our rubber using 2  pieces as one piece. It would of been a hassle after we glued our rubber down. The crew then glued it to the seam tape all around to ensure a 100% seal. The slope turned out really good. The customer inspected the work and was happy. I also noticed 2 outside corners that where failing so I fixed them while I was there we then packed up our tools downloaded them to the truck and left site at 5 PM. Residential Premium Roof Shingle Installation in Edmonton AB, August to September 2012

Below you will find a series of field reports, correspondence and photos of a premium shingle installation for a residential client (duplex) in Edmonton, Alberta. We have also provided notes by our project manager about our proprietary weatherproofing technology. Edmonton Roof Shingle Replacement August 2 2012: We received correspondence concerning price structuring  since the work site was a duplex.  Client:
Just for clarity, I will need a quote for my half, including the additional cost to do the entire front if the neighbour does not cover half at the same time. Since there is also ice damming around the duplex as well, I would like you to specify how this will be dealt with. Also include the garage as a separate number so I can identify the cost to the neighbour. Again, thanks for the quick responses. I am impressed with the turnaround so far.
Our response:
I will provide you with two separate quotes: one for your half of the duplex and garage, as well as one for the total of the duplex and garage. As for your concerns with ice damming; Ice dams are created when water runs down a sloped roof and runs into a blockage of ice. As it begins to freeze, the ice block then grows up-slope or up your roof. This is commonly found at the gutter area, hence the reason local building codes are starting to call for Ice & Water Shield Underlayment at the eaves (at minimum). Roof underlayment needs to be installed as "monolithic" as possible, have as much elasticity as possible, and be installed so there are no negative laps (due to incorrect installation of membrane connections). If your roofing installer used Ice & Water and used it properly, your roof can then leak at shingle-level and that moisture will never enter your roofing system, or to the sheathing itself. Sadly, many roofing companies or installers do not understand what a negative lap is, or know about monolithic installations of an underlayment/membrane, so this is not always a solution. Local building codes are now typically asking for, at the very least, Ice & Water to the eave up the slope of the roof to a minimum of 36 in. and in the roof valleys. Some roofers do not know or simply ignore the code. We use peel and stick underlay extensively at all openings and at every eave edge and valley. Our callbacks as a result of these advanced products and our proprietary specification detail are very near 0%.
