Below you will find a report from the flat roof repair crew. The issue with this roof was that a back-slope was required to get the water drainage correct. Once the back slope was installed on the flat roof the water drained from the roof much better. May 9, 2015: Crew Arrives to Complete Repair

EPDM Repair in progress. Installing a back-slope at the roof parapet to redirect water to drain.
After filling out our safety documentation and a weekly safety meeting we went up on the roof to find about 2 inches of standing water along the back wall. We spent 2 hours getting the roof dry. Once the roof was dry we then installed our slope with screws and plates to correct the roof ponding issues. After that we put 3 inch seam tape around the perimeter of our back slope. Once that was complete we put latex in our rubber using 2  pieces as one piece. It would of been a hassle after we glued our rubber down. The crew then glued it to the seam tape all around to ensure a 100% seal. The slope turned out really good. The customer inspected the work and was happy. I also noticed 2 outside corners that where failing so I fixed them while I was there we then packed up our tools downloaded them to the truck and left site at 5 PM. Article: Tar And Gravel Flat Roof Drain Repair Edmonton Alberta To Commercial Building.

Below you will find a report from the flat roof repair crew in Edmonton Alberta conducting there report and repairs.  October 29, 2014: Assessment Completed  The client has two leaks. Originally it was one, but the manager said it was two. He then showed me leak number one.  It is in the center of the store. When I got up to roof, the roof was in good shape and I couldn't find the leak but upon further investigation the leak is coming from the drain. There are multiple seams in the drain pipe and I would recommend that two u-flows be installed in that drain, by the way it was designed it would need two.
There are multiple holes in the wall that need to be plugged as water can and is getting in there and most certainly the cause of the leak
4 to 6 man hours to complete
Leak Identified On Roof
Our assessment began with a walk-around of the perimeter, noting any deficiencies at common leak entry points.

Once we shoveled back the gravel and located potential leak spots. We then had to patch the leaks with mastic to prevent any further leakage. For this we covered the leak with a layer of mastic. Once the first layer was down, we then cut reinforcement mesh to place on top of the layer of mastic. We then covered the mesh with one last layer of mastic to seal in the mesh that we installed.

Edmonton Commercial Flat Roof Repair, June 15, 2015

Article: Commercial Tar and Gravel Flat Roof Repair Edmonton.

Below is a brief roof site report from our Edmonton roofing repair crew. It is a commercial roof with a tar and gravel roof that has aged and dried. The layers of bitumen have dried and contraction is causing the layers to pull away from the wall. Tar and gravel roofing is one of a number of flat roofing systems available. Tar and gravel is one of the original systems. Torch on modified bituminous membranes then came out (manufactured in rolls), then single ply systems such as EPDM, TPO and PVC and fluid applied membranes. The advantage tar and gravel or built-up roofing (BUR) has is that if it is maintained regularly by a professional it can last almost forever. The disadvantage tar and gravel roofs have is the cost to replace. Tar and gravel roofing requires significant labour and as such is more expensive to replace than most roof systems. Below you will find a tar and gravel roof experiencing age related repair issues. Over time, as UV breaks down the bitumen and dries out the roof it will begin to contract and pull away from the edges. A common repair with tar and gravel roofing is at the roof edge. August 19, 2014: Crew Arrives On-Site To Complete Hourly Repairs.  We met with the client to inspect the leaks and the roof. When I got up on the roof I noticed that the client had tried to fix the leaks himself using tar, and lots of it. But where he put the tar was not the source of the leak, the leak was along the wall under the metal and the 4 ply of paper was split from the old BUR roof. It was split about 20 feet along the cant metal on both ends of the building. We performed a temporary repair to the roof using sopramastic and mesh. This should fix the problem of the leaks.

Using mastic and mesh, we sealed in the actual source of the leaks. Water had been coming in along the wall under the metal. As well, the 4 ply paper had been split away from the old BUR roof.

Commercial Metal Roof Repair Edmonton, June 15, 2015

Article: Liquid Rubber Coating Spot Repair to Commercial Metal Roof.

The report below is a metal roof inspection with recommendations and temporary repair and maintenance of a commercial standing seam metal roof in Edmonton, Alberta. The Product used for the repairs was liquid rubber. Commercial metal roofing systems require constant maintenance and repair to keep them from leaks. Depending on the slope (the higher the slope, the less leaks usually), the type of metal seams, age of roof and the initial installation quality your roof may need more or less repair or maintenance. For aggressive repair and maintenance of a commercial metal roof we would recommend a complete coating. For roofs that aren't leaking too badly we can do spot repairs. Sometimes roof penetrations can be replaced properly or even the fasteners can be replaced to stop leaking. There are different maintenance steps we can take dependent on the specific challenges. As far as the type of caulking or coatings we recommend... liquid rubber in Canada has been an excellent product for us and our clients. There are many products available on the market from the USA, but in most instances they peel and crack and do not last very long due to the harsh winters in Canada. The combination of a proper seam tape and liquid rubber will usually deal with any metal roof leaks you have. Visit the following link for scope of work used for various liquid rubber metal roof repair and maintenance.   July 29, 2014: Roofing Crew Arrives For Metal Roof Inspection. They are getting leaks from units on the roof as well as three big hood vents coming through the wall. The caulking has let go and would need be removed and resealed plus mesh the sides of them. There are 6 units and 10 penetrations on the roof - they would like them all sealed with mesh and liquid rubber. We would be looking at 40 to 50 man hours to complete job.

August 6, 2014: Crew Arrives To Complete Repairs.  Today we had to remove old roof caulking from the hood vents and also around some spots around the units after we did that. We cleaned them and applied seam tape and then applied our liquid rubber. We applied two coats of liquid rubber to all. As for the hood vents, we removed all old silicone and applied new caulking and sealed in the sides with seam tape and liquid rubber. I also sealed in the caulking with liquid rubber for extra protection for all rooftop units, vents and penetrations. The roof leak issues are sealed 100% and site is 100% complete. Material used. 1.5 pails of brush grade liquid rubber. 3 rolls of seam tape. 5 tubes of chalking.
