Edmonton Residential Roof Snow Removal, March 2013

This residential client in Edmonton required rooftop snow removal. This report outlines the work conducted by the GRS crew and includes photos. Roof Report, March 8, 2013: It was like trying to walk on a 45 degree angle skating rink. There was no ice underneath the compact snow so we removed it down to the roof deck. Trying not to slip while shoveling made it quite the challenge. The deck was shoveled off and then the screw holes for the Peak harness were siliconed and the screws were put back into the roof peak. Edmonton Residential Roof Leak Repairs, July 2012

This residential client required an initial inspection to determine the source of a water leak followed by minor repairs. The GRS crew proceeded to caulk one of the roof vents as well as the roof to wall connection. Roof Report, July 12, 2012:
We arrived on-site and conducted the tool box meeting. Then we checked the attic of the garage and found wet insulation and noted water was coming through a light fixture. The crew proceeded to the roof and had a very difficult time identifying where the leak was coming in from. All shingles look as they should and water was not identified coming in from the nail holes. The client informed me that he thought there was a problem with the roof vent and suggested we re-caulk the vent on the outside and check for any abnormalities. We caulked all around and under the vent. Some movement was noted in the vent and it was rectified. We also suspected that the roof to wall connection may be to blame so that was caulked as well.

The client suggested we caulk the vent which he had previously encountered problems with.
IMAG0090
Caulking was applied all around and under the unit.
IMAG0091
Our technicians also suspected that water was entering through the wall connection. We applied caulking there, as well.
IMAG0092
The garage attic inspection uncovered wet insulation and water entering through the light fixture.

Edmonton Residential EPDM Roof Repair, April 2011

This client had an EPDM overlay installed by the GRS crew previously. A subsequent repair was required due to two holes being found in the roof, likely caused by snow removal. Roof Report, April 20, 2011: We found two holes in the EPDM at this residence. The first one seemed to be a snag (probably caused from shoveling snow), and we suspected that this was the one that the client specifically mentioned. The second hole was caused by a screw head puncturing up through the EPDM. A crew member patched both holes while I searched for any others issues (none were found).
One of the holes we found was caused by a screw puncturing through the EPDM.
This was easily resolved using an EPDM patch with liquid rubber coatings and spudding around the seams.
The other hole was a snag caused by shoveling snow off the roof. This was solve using the same method.
While there was significant standing water on the roof from melting snow, it was draining correctly. No other problems were found on the roof.
