Flat Roof Skirt Deck Installation, August 2015, Edmonton

Below you will find a series of ongoing reports for a residential client in Edmonton, Alberta. The client requires a DuraDek roof skirt replacement. Parts of the flat roof are currently exposed to the elements, so we must examine all exposed areas for damage and ensure that the new installation ties in to the old. Inspection: August 7, 2015 Upon first assessment, we found the east and west corners of the roof had water damage and rot. The roof will need to be stripped back and the underlying wood will need to be replaced. After that, a suitable flat roofing system will need to be used to tie it in with the DuraDek to prevent further moisture and water damage - temporary patches were put in place. As this work is beyond the scope of the original quotation, we are assembling a required materials list and will return them to the client for further discussion.
Water damage and rot had consumed the east and west corners of the roof.

Roof Report: August 14, 2015 Our crew arrived on site and began gathering the gravel that lies on the existing roof skirt. It was swept up and shoveled into buckets that were safely lowered to the ground. Once the gravel was removed, the team departed the site to await the ordered materials. Roof Report: August 17, 2015 The crew started the day with the toolbox and safety meeting and got to tearing off the existing flat roof system while the project lead left to get some more supplies for the job. Given that this project is relatively small in scope and straightforward, everything was completed in the one day, save for the detail work in one corner and a splice wash that will take less than half an hour's work the following day. Everything's cleaned up, and the photos below document the mostly-finished product.
After replacing the rotten wood, we placed a vinyl decking over top. Some detail work remained.
We tied in the remaining corner, and followed up with an application of splice wash.

Vinyl sheets were fastened to the wall connection using a termination bar.
